Udi’s Gluten Free Bun

Eating Gluten Free

I have been gluten free for over a year.  Although I am not a celiac, I choose to remove gluten from my diet.  The decision was for a couple reasons, but mainly to reduce my carbohydrate intake.  Eliminating breads, cereals and pastas seemed like a good way to accomplish that goal.  I was also starting to have some arthritic symptoms in my feet / ankles.  There is some evidence that removing gluten can help with inflammation and joint pain.

So I did it… and I am really feeling the benefits.  My glucose numbers are down for the first time in years. The inflammation has receded greatly with only the very occasional ankle flair.  I even dropped a few pounds.  An anecdote for sure, but I am not alone.  Very much worth the occasional teasing :-).

Many folks who are not celiac are now making the decision to go gluten free. While the internet may swirl on the facts about what gluten might do to your health, there is no denying that the public is asking for options, at the grocery store and at restaurants around Rochester NY.  Having good friends who have celiac disease we decide very early on to make sure we have many gluten free options in our restaurant in Rochester, NY.

Options are going to depend on your sensitivity.  Our fryers are used for gluten items, so if you are very sensitive to gluten then all fried food (marked with *) should be avoided.  The meals and sandwiches come with cornbread which is not gluten free.  We are happy to put it on the side for someone else in your party.
